Bicycle Charge Controller USB (Mini B) (Module)

Allows the operation of navigators, PDAs, MP3 players, etc. if these have a current supply jack "Mini USB B" with generally usual wiring. The current for the operation and/or for charging the battery is then taken from the bicycle dynamo.

Supported devices
The Bicycle charge controller supplies Power according to USB specifications on the outer pins of the USB-plug. Most devices with Mini-USB-B Port are compatible. Some manufacturer however require additional signals on the data pins before going into charge mode. That serves economic interests: no power supplies of other manufacturers are allowed. Those signals can be very different. For that reason we can not promise that all devices on the market are compatible with our M172 Bicycle charge controller. Because there are thousands of devices, we can not test them all. Please do not ask us if any specific device works with M172. As mentioned before, most of the time it works. (you can read about it on many internet forums.)
Input voltage: 6VAC commercial bicycle dynamo (also wheel hub dynamos) alternating voltage

Output voltage: 5.2VDC stabilized (approx 5.1 – 5.3VDC)
Output current: max 300mA (is fully sufficient for most of the devices that are supplied with USB jack)
LED display: the installed LED lights up when the switch is set to “USB operation” and the bicycle is moving
Switch: installed change-over switch in order to switch to “USB operation” or “Bicycle lighting on”. The bicycle dynamo cannot charge USB and operate the lights at the same time
Connections 1 USB cable approx 60cm long, 1 cable “earth” to the bicycle chassis, 1 cable to the dynamo, 1 cable to the bicycle lighting
Dimensions: approx 40 x 40 x 12mm (without switch and fastening straps)
